On Feb. 12^th, Sichuan Drug Administration and Sichuan Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine jointly issued a notice. During the outbreak, they agreed that “Qingfei Detox mixture (COVID-19 No.1)” declared by the Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Southwest Medical University, “Yinqiao Huopu Tuire mixture (COVID-19 No.2)” and “Jingfang Huopu Detox mixture (COVID-19 No.3)”declared by the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Sichuan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine) could be directly allocated and used by the 205 designated hospital for treatment of COVID-19 in the whole province, without applying to Sichuan Drug Administration. Sichuan Drug Administration would make quick examination and grant approval for the application of the Sichuan non-designated hospital.

“COVID-19 No.1” prescription came from the Notice on the Advice on Qingfei Detox Decoction for the Integrated TCM and Western Medicine Treatment of COVID-19 jointly issued by the General Office of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the General Office of the National Health Commission, and its clinical effect of early observation is obviously good. “COVID-19 No.2” and “COVID-19 No.3” prescriptions came from Sichuan Prevention and Control Guideline of Traditional Chinese Medicine for COVID-19 formulated by the expert team of Sichuan Drug Administration. Among them, “COVID-19 No.2” is a prescription originated from Yinqiao powder and Huopu Xialing decoction treating “syndromes of wind-heat complicated by dampness”, and “COVID-19 No.3” is a prescription originated from Jingfang Detox powder and Huopu Xialing decoction treating “syndromes of wind-cold complicated by dampness.

“COVID-19 No.1”, “COVID-19 No.2”, “COVID-19 No.3” hospital preparations were designed to give full play to TCM treatment of COVID-19 and to meet the clinical demand of prevention and treatment of COVID-19 in Sichuan province. And Sichuan Administration of TCM urgently organized experts from the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Sichuan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine) and the Affiliated Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Southwest Medical University to jointly tackle key problems and develop prescriptions. On February 11^th, Sichuan Drug Administration and Sichuan Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine jointly organized experts to review the hospital preparations. On February 12^th, Sichuan Drug Administration and Sichuan Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine jointly issued a document agreeing to prepare and use the hospital preparations.

It is reported that Sichuan is the first province in China to prepare and use Qingfei Detox decoction recommended by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine as a hospital preparation and allow the allocation and use. The “COVID-19 No.2” and “COVID-19 No.3" are the first batch of TCM hospital preparations for the control and prevention of COVID-19 developed by Sichuan Province.
