On February 4th, the general office of the National Health Commission and the office of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine jointly issued the Notice on Diagnosis and Treatment Scheme of the Novel Coronavirus (Trial Version 5). The notice requires all the relevant medical institutions to give full play to the role of TCM in medical treatment, to strengthen the integration of TCM and western medicine, to establish a joint consultation system of TCM and western medicine, and to promote medical treatment for good results.
The fifth version is revised on the basis of the early diagnosis and treatment scheme, after the experts, organized by the National Health Commission and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese medicine, analyzing, studying and judging, and summarizing the early medical treatment work. As for the treatment of TCM, it is proposed in the scheme that the respiratory illness by the novel coronavirus belongs to the category of epidemic disease of TCM. The disease is located in the lung because of the pestilence, and the basic pathogenesis is characterized by "dampness, heat, poison and stasis". According to the condition of illness, local climate characteristics and different physical conditions, we can refer to the recommended scheme for syndrome differentiation and treatment.
