The first National TCM Medical team composed of doctors from hospitals affiliated to the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, which was sent out by National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, began working immediately after arrival in Wuhan. After initial briefing with the Jinyintan Hospital, the team has been stationed in the hospital and started their medical services from January 27th.
20 doctors and nurses in the medical team was from Xiyuan TCM hospital and Guanganmen TCM hospital, both affiliated to the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. Upon arrival, Dr. Yan Shujiang, Vice Commissioner of National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, chaired a special meeting on how to carry out medical treatment effectively in Jinyintan Hospital. He emphasized that related sectors in provincial and municipal level, as well as China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, should attach great attention to the current situation with political integrity and overall vision, work on full implementation of the tasks assigned by the Joint Prevention and Control Work Mechanism, promote integration on treatment of modern medicine and TCM, perform well relevant duties with serious and responsible attitude for the people's health, and full play to TCM in the containment of the epidemic and treatment of the patients. Mr. Huang Luqi, academician of China's Academy of Engineering and Chairman of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, led core members of the team to study the ward layout, personnel allocation, technology and logistical support in the hospital, discussed with the hospital management on arrangement for the medical team, solved urgent issues and carried out training for local staff. Medical treatment has been carried out since January 27th.
