She emphasized that, with the responsibility holders clearly identified and adequate containment measures taken, the persistent efforts should be given to the epidemic containment and the multiple measures should be taken for the recovery of the normal medical service to meet the medical needs of the public. Yan Shujiang, Vice Commissioner of NATCM, was in the investigation team.

Yu Yanhong and the team went to the ER and out-patient department, where they learnt in detail the triage and the recovery of the normal medical service. She urged that the medical workers protect themselves and the hospitals put all the protective and caring measures in place.

After the field study, she listened to the working reports of the two hospitals in Wuhan Hospital of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. She pointed out that, both the hospitals took full advantage of their internal potentials and contributed a lot to the ultimate victory over the epidemic in Wuhan and Hubei. In the battle against the epidemic, a new courageous, capable and confident image of TCM workers has been illustrated.

She reiterated that the integrated TCM and western hospitals should take the integration of TCM and western medicine as their basic principle for development and an article in their charters. Meanwhile, the reinforcement of the party organization, medical disciplines, specialties, human resources should be coordinated, to set up advanced working mechanisms and the joint diagnosis and treatment team of TCM and western medicine, to involve TCM in multi-disciplinary joint consultation system. With their own characteristics, a series of tailored diagnosis and treatment protocols should be developed.

She reiterated that TCM community in Wuhan and Hubei should summarize the experience and lessons in the epidemic control and prevention. The good experience and methods should be integrated into the systems and mechanisms, while the efforts are given to the weaker and neglected points. In this way, we will inherit and develop TCM in an innovative manner for the elevation of TCM, integrated TCM and western medicine, and the TCM industry.
